Typical FDA-labeled schedule: 0.25 mg weekly for 4 weeks (starter, not effective for glycemic control), then 0.5 mg. If needed, increase after at least 4 weeks per step to 1 mg, then 2 mg max.
Missed a dose?
If you miss a dose, take it within 5 days of the missed dose. If more than 5 days have passed, skip it and take the next dose on your regular day. Never double up — and confirm with your prescriber.
Storage
Unopened pens: refrigerate at 2–8 °C (36–46 °F). After first use, a pen can be kept at room temperature (below 30 °C) or refrigerated for up to 56 days.

How long does Ozempic stay in your system?
Semaglutide’s elimination half-life is about one week, so it takes roughly 5 weeks after the last dose for most of it to clear. That long half-life is also why your level builds gradually over the first month — GLPMate’s curve shows both effects.
What if I miss an Ozempic dose?
The FDA label says take it within 5 days; after that, skip and resume your schedule. GLPMate’s reminders make missed doses rare, and its missed-dose guidance reflects the label — but your prescriber has the final word.
